Role and achievements: My involvement in start-up, repair, and training on tea packing machines (TEEPACK, Tecnomeccanica) as an interpreter allowed me to substantially enlarge my vocabulary, which later enabled me to manage procurement and delivery of spare parts for almost all the factory equipment. As I was also in charge of preparation, reviewing and negotiating the purchase contracts, I took the opportunity to learn the basics of Commerce and Trade Law. Good communication skills helped me in getting favorable contract conditions from the company’s partners and enhancing their trust and overall attitude towards the company.

My duties included: • Translation of scientific reports, protocols and articles in the fields of Biology, Toxicology, Immunology, Chemistry, Ecology, plant protection, Genetics, vaccine development, drug discovery, pre-clinical trials, and GLP; • Translation and formatting of project proposals for submission to Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF), and Biotechnology Engagement Program (BTEP); • Translation of incoming and outgoing business mail; • Translation of User Manuals on laboratory equipment (thermostatic shakers, safety cabinets, Chipman Cell-IQ system, etc.); • Translation of OECD, USDA, IACUC, AAALAC, and US EPA regulating documents on pre-clinical trials and GLP-related activities; • Consecutive interpretation at conferences, workshops, and follow-up meetings; • Assistance for foreign visitors, including hotel reservation, arrangement of catering and social programs. Role and achievements: In the course of my work I gained broad translation and interpretation experience through participation in various ISTC, BTEP and CRDF projects. Within the above projects I was fortunate to participate in consecutive interpretation for representatives of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), US EPA, US Department of Agriculture, US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), Bioindustry Initiative (BII), US Department of State Global Partnership program, etc. Owing to my good learning ability I promptly familiarized with vast amount of different scientific terms and phenomena. Besides, high professional level of the translation team I became a part of as well as crucial importance of data precision encouraged me to swiftly master my attention to detail and gain high translation accuracy. Overall, this job experience gave me a huge boost of my professional skills.
